Define success

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years ago

If people come away:

1) feeling like they got value from attending

2) inspired

3) feeling they have had meaningful conversation about real issues

4) (having imagined realistic actions they can accomplish to make a difference in their world)

then the event will be successful.

We'd like to ask people to fill in an evaluation slip indicating whether they got value and were inspired, and also if they have any suggestions for changes that could have been made.

We are not measuring success by:

1) the number of people who turn up

2) the amount of money we make

3) the breadth of publicity about the event

4) how orderly or chaotic the day is

We are aware that the event will go better if we have critical mass to make it a lively and stimulating event. This may mean asking the right people, rather than a large number of people.

Clarification on "right people". If you are reading this, you are 50% toward being a "right person". If you turn up and engage with the event, you are 100% the right person. No prior knowledge, qualifications or experience is necessary. This is not a technical conference. It is whatever the participants make of it.

In other words, the "right people" are the ones who show up.  The end-goal will always be that you learn/listen/act toward things that matter to you.
